About me:

I recently had a stroke which meant that when my carer arrived, they had to get the police to force entry into my home. This resulted in me spending a short amount of time in hospital and whilst there; my social worker suggested that I consider using a telecare service once I returned home.

The local authority provided me with a variety of devices including a personal pendant and smoke alarm which I’m pleased to say has provided me with the much needed security that I needed whilst giving my family their own peace of mind.

That said I have to confess that I did forget about some food that I was cooking one day which led to the smoke alarm going off and the fire brigade attending which just goes to show how important these types of devices are in keeping people safe in their own home.

Reach Alarm Unit

1) Reach Alarm Unit

The alarm unit plugs into the telephone line and automatically dials the response service if I need help. It has a built in microphone and speaker and receives radio signals from my other sensors.

Smoke Detector

2) Smoke Detector

The smoke detector is linked to my alarm unit by a radio signal and will play a message to remind me to leave the house in the event of a fire.

Carbon Monoxide Detector

3) Carbon Monoxide Detector

The carbon monoxide detector is linked to my alarm unit by a radio signal and will automatically
alert the monitoring centre in the event of carbon monoxide being detected.

Personal Pendant

4) Personal Pendant

I wear my pendant at all times in case I need to call for assistance. It's easy to press and what's even better is that it's totally waterproof so I can take it into the bathroom too
